This dataset represents communication tower structures and was compiled from various sources - FCC antenna structure registrations, Property Appraiser Tangible business data, and Lee County permits. FCC - Antenna structures taller than 200' must be registered with FCC. A search of the Antenna Structure Registrations (ASR) on FCC webpage http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistrationSearch.jsp used "Location of Structures" in Lee County using Chrome (search does not work with IE). FCC emailed results as a zip file. The extracted file CO.dat (coordinates ) was used to generate points and RA.dat (application data) EN.dat (entity/applicant info) were joined to the points based on the FCC file number. The majority of fields in this dataset are from the FCC ASR database. Field definitions and documentation can be found on FCC webpage http://wireless.fcc.gov/antenna/index.htm?job=uls_transaction&page=weekly. Towers that have been dismantled (has dismantled date), or not yet constructed (no construction date), or that have been archived (Archive Status of "A") were deleted from the data. The remaining structure locations were verified using 2017 or 2018 aerial photography and shifted as needed. Property Appraiser Tangible database - Records with NAICS codes of 237130 (Power and Communication Line) and 517312 (Wireless Telecommunication) were extracted from the Tangible business database and mapped using the STRAP number. This data was cross referenced with the FCC data. Structures not in the FCC ASR database were added to this dataset. Lee County DCD permits with a reference to tower or antenna will also used to verify current tower locations. |
